Sharon Barnhardt is the Director and Principal Investigator of CESS Nuffield - FLAME University in Pune. Her research focuses on issues of urban development and rural health in India, through the use of natural and randomized evaluations. She is currently conducting an evaluation to improve the sustainability of community sanitation in urban Odisha and estimating the impact of selling iron-fortified iodized salt on anemia in women, men, and children in rural Bihar. Her earlier research studies the impact of government housing programs on economic mobility, inter-religious attitudes, and social networks. Her research is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, 3ie, DFID, and the US National Institutes of Health. Prior to CESS, she was an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. Sharon is also an affiliate of the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA).  Sharon earned her PhD from Harvard University and also holds an MPA from Princeton University.

Raymond Duch is an Official Fellow at Nuffield College, University of Oxford, Director of the Nuffield Centre for Experimental Social Sciences (CESS) and Long Term Visiting Professor at the IAST, Toulouse School of Economics. Professor Duch’s research focuses on responsibility attribution, incorporating elements of theory, experiments and analysis of public opinion. His recent experimental research into cheating explores its implications for tax compliance, corruption and economic performance.

Pavan Mamidi is the Principal Investigator for Law, Sociology, and Management and the Director of International Research Collaborations for the Centre for Experimental Social Sciences (CESS) Nuffield – FLAME University. Pavan is interested in investigating social norms, trust, pro-social behavior and behavioral ethics using laboratory experiments. Previously, Pavan was a faculty member at IIM-Ahmedabad in the Business Policy area, where he taught courses on empirical research methods in the doctoral program, and negotiations and dispute resolution in several public policy programs for the government. He has also taught in policy programs for senior government officers, including IPS at the National Police Academy and IAS at LBSNAA in Mussoorie. He has held positions at IIM Bangalore, MIT (Sloan), the University of Michigan Law School, and Harvard Law School where he is an affiliated faculty at the Center on the Legal Profession. Vijeta Pamnani is the Executive Assistant at CESS Nuffield – FLAME University. She joined the team at FLAME University in February 2017. Vijeta previously worked as an Expat Relocation Manager, a role in which she assisted Expats relocating to India on a long term project to settle in the country with regards to their housing, immigration status, city orientation, and schooling for children. She holds a B.A. from Pune University and a Diploma in Hotel Management. She has a total work experience of 13 years in the service industry.

Andrés L. Parrado is the Research Manager for the CESS Nuffield – FLAME University collaboration. Before joining FLAME University, Andrés worked as a Research Consultant with faculty at the Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad and the Blavatnik School of Government (Oxford). He holds a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Princeton University. As an Undergraduate Research Fellow at the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS), he researched Chinese immigration to non-traditional locations like Serbia.

Shardul Vaidya is a Research Associate at CESS Nuffield-FLAME University. He oversees the technical aspects of the Centre as well as design and deployment of economic games for experiments. As an undergraduate student, Shardul previously worked with the strategy teams at Disney India and the Aditya Birla Group. He holds a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Bombay.

Wojtek Przepiorka is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology at Utrecht University. His research interests are in analytical and economic sociology, game theory, organizational behavior and quantitative methodology. Professor Przepiorka uses laboratory, field and online survey experiments to investigate how social norms emerge, are enforced and change. For example, he currently investigates how descriptive norms of ICT use affect people’s privacy attitudes and behaviors (with C. Horne, Washington State University), or how the sharing of compromising information about deviant acts can produce trust and cooperation in extra-legal contexts (with D. Gambetta, EUI Florence). Before moving to the Netherlands, Professor Przepiorka was a research fellow at Nuffield CESS and the Department of Sociology in Oxford. He studied sociology at University of Bern and completed his doctorate at ETH Zurich.

Dr. Ravi is a Senior Fellow of Governance Studies Program, at Brookings India and Brookings Institution Washington D.C. She is also Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India. She leads the Development Economics research vertical at Brookings India, where the focus is on financial inclusion, health, gender inequality and urbanisation. Dr. Ravi is a visiting professor of Economics at the Indian School of Business where she teaches courses in Game Theory and Microfinance. She is affiliated with the Financial Access Initiative of New York University and is an independent director on the board of Microcredit Ratings International Limited. She was part of the Enforcement Directorate of Microfinance Institutions Network in India and has served as independent director on boards of several leading microfinance institutions.

Tom Simpson is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, and a Senior Research Fellow at Wadham College. He is an AHRC/BBC Radio 3 New Generation Thinker for 2017. He works particularly on trust, and issues at the intersection of technology and security. He joined the School from Cambridge, where he was a Research Fellow at Sidney Sussex College, and was also educated (BA, MPhil, PhD). Between degrees he was an officer with the Royal Marines Commandos for 5 years. He served in Northern Ireland; Baghdad, Iraq; and Helmand Province, Afghanistan. His work is published by Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Philosophy and Public Affairs, and other leading journals.
